Wealth management tailored for professionals building equity in their business, personal investments and employer stock.
With an advisor, alignment is vital. I am:
Fee-only
“Fee-only” means I work only for my clients – I do not collect commissions or take referral fees of any kind.
Independent
I am independent and not affiliated with a bank or insurance company that expects me to meet sales targets.
Fiduciary
As a fiduciary, my financial planning & investment management services always put your interests first.
My mission is to be a trusted partner delivering customized guidance through comprehensive planning, dedicated support and unwavering fiduciary commitment.

The mission behind the name Olivehurst.
An olive tree can produce fruit for hundreds of years with a potential lifespan of over a thousand years – and the word hurst means grove, a group of trees.
Brought together as Olivehurst, I believe this imagery of a grove of olive trees producing fruit for many years provides powerful symbolism for financial stewardship.
It’s my mission to help you plan and implement financial decisions to pursue your life goals and prepare you for the future – producing long lasting fruit for many years just like a grove of olive trees.

> Why
I started Olivehurst Advisors to be an aligned partner you can trust for personalized advice that supports your priorities, goals and values.
I began my career as a corporate professional on Wall Street and later transitioned to running my own business while also starting a family. I learned to manage my finances on my own through planning and foresight – but also in hindsight by learning from mistakes. Mistakes are valuable learning lessons but can also be painful – and what I missed on my journey was having a financial advisor who was a partner to help me plan strategically. While I did have a few people to ask specific questions, often, I didn’t know the right questions to ask. This is why I started Olivehurst Advisors – to be the partner I wished I had on my journey.
For me, the importance of my goals has grown over time. Yet, with increasing responsibilities, the demands on my time have grown just as much, if not more. Given many goals have a financial component, this prospect of decreasing time available to tackle increasingly valuable goals is a key reason why I believe there may not be a more impactful role that I can play than to help someone navigate their personal financial journey.
So, I’m excited to partner with you to help you pursue your goals and feel more confident, secure and supported in your financial decisions.

> About
Neil Portus, CFA, CMA, CFP®

My mission is to be a trusted partner delivering customized guidance through comprehensive planning, dedicated support and unwavering fiduciary commitment.
I bring two decades of experience in finance as a CFO and on Wall Street as an equity research analyst and investment banker. In those roles, I gained first-hand experience navigating some of the complex financial situations professionals may face as they navigate their careers or launch, grow and sell their business.
For the past decade, I have run my own fractional CFO consultancy, serving as a strategic and operational partner to CEOs, Board Members and leadership teams supporting their decisions to grow their businesses.
Before that, I worked on Wall Street as an equity research analyst covering consumer-retail stocks at Goldman Sachs in New York including helping to lead Zipcar’s $1.1 billion IPO. Prior to Goldman, I was an equity research analyst at Barclays Capital and Lehman Brothers. I began my career as an investment banker leading mergers/acquisitions and financing transactions that totaled over $1 billion.
I am a CFA charterholder, Certified Management Accountant, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, received my MBA from the University of South Carolina and majored in music business at Middle Tennessee State University near Nashville.
In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two young children, traveling, road cycling, playing the guitar and attempting diy home repairs.
